Yoga and labyrinth walks, knitting and poetry, and exploring the bible through a variety of artistic mediums are all a part of this fun and faith-filled weekend for girls. The 2010 retreat emphasizes reconnection with God, ourselves, and others through taking time for pray and play. The registration fee is $75 and includes your stay at Richards Hall and all meals. Different practices explored included:
Lectio Divina: A devotional practice that involves meditating on scripture, and finding how God's words can speak to us now.
Meditative Writing/Journaling: Writing or journaling as a spiritual practice can open the eyes of our hearts as we reflect on events, situations, actions and reactions. It has become a very popular practice in recent years.
Yoga: An experience designed to aid in meditation and prayer. It also reduces stress and helps build a sense of well-being.
Yarn and Fabric Art: Knitting, creating, looming and weaving - each is an expression of the creativity God has given us, so this is our opportunity to celebrate these gifts! Such practices can also be very relaxing and meditative.
Painting: Art is another way to celebrate the creative gifts God has given us.
Pottery: Another form of art that is meditative and fun!
Spiritual Readings: Together, we will look at spiritual writings by several people, including Brother Lawrence, Anna Quindlan, Evelyn Underhill and Kent Groff.
